Top Stars Compete in
Tramore
Since the first Darts Festival was
staged in O`Shea`s Hotel, Tramore, in September 1988, the
popular seaside resort has attracted many of the sport`s top
players to the three events which are held there every year.
The legendary Jack McKenna from
Kildare is without doubt the most successful player to compete
in Tramore down through the years and his three wins in the
O`Shea Cup will take some beating.
Jack has also teamed up with Sharon
O`Brien to win numerous Mixed Pairs titles at the Autumn
Festival.

Since the introduction of the
Inter-Counties Challenge in 2002 all of the top county teams in
the Republic are making an annual pilgrimage to Tramore.
Geoff Wylie has led the raids
across the border with wins in Singles, Doubles and Mixed Pairs
events and when he competed with Eric Bristow in April 1999 to
win the Men`s Doubles it attracted one of the biggest crowds
ever to O`Shea`s Hotel.
Mitchell Crooks, Ray Farrell, John
Magowan, Paul Dillon, John Elder and Roy Bailie (to name but a
few) have all been successful visitors to the sunny south east
while two of the North`s top ladies, Denise Cassidy and Grace
Craine, have honoured us with their presence on many occasions.
The Count`, Ted Hankey, swooped on
Tramore for the Autumn Festival in 1999 and he won the Mixed
Pairs with Cork player, Olivia Scuffins. He also won the Men`s
Open Singles.
A few months later he went on to
win the Embassy World title at Lakeside.
It was Shayne`The Bulldog` Burgess
who entertained the crowds the following year as he also
captured the Autumn Open Singles.
