Connie and Paddy Win Tour Cards

 

 

 

 

Congratulations to Connie Finnan {Limerick} and Paddy Meaney (right) {Kilkenny} on winning their Tour Cards after four days of great performances at the PDC Q-School at the Metrodome in Barnsley.

 

Best of luck, lads, on the PDC Tour over the coming months.

 

 

 

 Two Irish Teams in PDC World Cup

 

Teams from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland will be competing in the PDC World Cup in Hamburg over the weekend of February 3/5.

 

The Republic team of William O’Connor and Mick McGowan have been drawn against Malaysia in the first round with the winners to take on Australia in Round Two.

 

Brendan Dolan and Mickey Mansell will represent Northern Ireland are drawn in Round Two to the winners of the Gibraltar v Denmark match.

 

Hat-trick for Deano in Tramore !

14-year old Dean Finn was the toast of Tramore at the Winter Gala on January 13th/14th/15th. when he recorded a remarkable treble victory at O’Shea’s Hotel.

 

He turned Friday the 13th. into a nightmare for the players in the 301 Double Start Singles as he ploughed his way through a top-class field to capture the title.

 

He eliminated Sean Marshall (Kerry) 4 – 3 in the semi-finals and he trounced Kieran Lennon (Waterford) 5 – 0 in the final finishing the final leg in eight darts with scores of 136, 121 and 44 finish.

 

On the following day Dean went on to win Round Three of the Ireland Youths’ Championship with a win over John Jackson in the final and he rounded off his treble victory on the Sunday when he defeated Murty Browne in the final of the Tramore Youth Cup.

And it could have been four !

 

In the O’Shea Cup Open Singles on the Sunday young Dean continued his unbelievable run by reaching the semi-finals where he was very unlucky to lose 5-4 to the eventual winner, Shane O’Connor.

In Round Three of the Ireland Players’ Championship Kevin McDonnell emerged victorious with a 6 – 4 win over William O’Connor (Limerick) in the final. In the semi-finals Kevin defeated Jacko Barry while William eliminated Benny Grace.

Linda Harte and Sharon O’Brien

 

 

Sharon O’Brien (Kildare) was at her best in the Ladies’ event with a 3 – 0 victory over Kay O’Carroll (Cork) in the semi-finals and a 4 – 0 win over Kilkenny’s Linda Harte in the final.    The other semi-finalist was Ciara Haugh (Cork).

 

On the final day of the Winter Gala Sharon completed a double victory when she won the Sharon Rafter Memorial Trophy for the sixth time with a 4 – 0 victory over fellow Kildare player, Susan McKenna. The beaten semi-finalists were Patricia Barden and Maureen McKenna.

 

 

Shane O’Connor and David Murphy

 

Shane O’Connor joined the elite band of players that won the prestigious O’Shea Cup at the Winter Gala when he came from behind to defeat a gallant David Murphy by six legs to five in a brilliant final.  David had defeated Trevor Vallely 5 – 4 in another great match in the semi-finals.

Happy New Darting Year 2012

 

The first major darts event in 2012 will be the Tramore Winter Gala which will be held at O’Shea’s Hotel, Tramore, Co. Waterford, on the weekend of January 13th/ 14th/ 15th.

 

The competition on the programme will be a 301 Double Start Singles competition on the Friday night with entries

being accepted at the venue from 7.30pm.

 

The Gala will include Round Three of the 2012 Ireland Players’ Championship on the Saturday at 12 noon and players are reminded that the closing date for sending Men’s entries is Wednesday, January 11th.

 

Entries for the Ladies’ an Youths’ competitions will be accepted at the venue at 12 noon on Saturday.

There will be three Open Singles competitions on the programme for Sunday and entries for these must be in before 7.00pm on Saturday.

 

The O’Shea Cup will be organised for the Men, the Sharon Rafter Memorial Trophy for the Ladies’ and the Tramore Youth Cup will be contested by players who are aged under-18 on January 1st
