Hat-trick for Deano in Tramore !

14-year old Dean Finn was the toast of Tramore at the Winter Gala on January
13th/14th/15th. when he recorded a remarkable treble victory at O’Shea’s Hotel.
He turned Friday the 13th. into a nightmare for the players in the 301 Double
Start Singles as he ploughed his way through a top-class field to capture the
title.
He eliminated Sean Marshall (Kerry) 4 – 3 in the semi-finals and he trounced
Kieran Lennon (Waterford) 5 – 0 in the final finishing the final leg in eight
darts with scores of 136, 121 and 44 finish.
On the following day Dean went on to win Round Three of the Ireland Youths’
Championship with a win over John Jackson in the final and he rounded off his
treble victory on the Sunday when he defeated Murty Browne in the final of the
Tramore Youth Cup.
And it could have been four !
In the O’Shea Cup Open Singles on the Sunday young Dean continued his
unbelievable run by reaching
the semi-finals where he was very unlucky to lose 5-4 to the eventual winner,
Shane O’Connor.

In Round Three of the Ireland Players’ Championship Kevin McDonnell emerged
victorious with a 6 – 4 win over William O’Connor (Limerick) in the final. In
the semi-finals Kevin defeated Jacko Barry while William eliminated Benny Grace.

Sharon O’Brien (Kildare) was at her best in the Ladies’ event with a 3 – 0
victory over Kay O’Carroll (Cork) in the semi-finals and a 4 – 0 win over
Kilkenny’s Linda Harte in the final.
The other semi-finalist was Ciara Haugh (Cork).
On the final day of the Winter Gala Sharon completed a double victory when she
won the Sharon Rafter Memorial Trophy for the sixth time with a 4 – 0 victory
over fellow Kildare player, Susan McKenna. The beaten semi-finalists were
Patricia Barden and Maureen McKenna.

Shane O’Connor joined the elite band of players that won the prestigious O’Shea
Cup at the Winter Gala when
he came from behind to defeat a gallant David Murphy by six legs to five in a
brilliant final.
David had defeated Trevor Vallely 5 – 4 in another great match in the
semi-finals.
