SHAY O´BRIEN

Dual winner, Shay O´Brien (Dublin) receiving the

trophy  from Mr. David Andrews T.D. in 1977.

Dublin´s Shay O´Brien was the only player to win ´back to back´  Irish titles in 1976 and 1977 and it was eight years before Dublin tasted success again when Anto Turner won in 1985.

The Divisional Finals moved ´down the country´ to Connolly Hall in Cork in 1978 and the following year it went to the North West to Castlebar where Eddie Morrissey (Tipperary) was the winner.

Into the 80´s and it was the turn of the late Pat Kiely (Kilkenny) in 1980 while the chef from Wicklow, John Kinsella, was victorious in the Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny, in 1981.
