Introduction
Welcome to the Home page of the Ireland Players' Championship which is now commencing it's fourth season.
The 2008 Championships were once again an outstanding success with increased entries at all rounds and with a record prize fund of € 8,000 at the Grand Finals on August 10th.
Our sincere gratitude is extended to our main sponsors Bruce Betting, Morrissey Motors and the Brennan Hotel Group for their very generous support over the past season and we wish to thank the Management and staff at all of the venues where the various rounds were staged
A Ladies' Championship was added to the programme last season and it was very well supported by the female darts players from around the country. We wish to thank Barney Flynn who sponsored this event.
It is intended to extend the Ladies' Championship for 2009 and rounds will be organised at each venue.
Once again we will be organising a Youths' Championship and in line with our policy of promoting Youths' Darts there will also be a Plate competition at the Grand Finals for the eight players outside of the Top 8.
We are deeply indebted to all those dedicated people for their unselfish help at the various venues throughout the country without whose assistance the competitions would not have run so smoothly.
The Souvenir Programme at the Grand Finals was a ' work of art ' by that genius Tom Tulloch and the computer skills and score-keeping of Shane Johnston kept everybody up to date on the happenings throughout the day.
Paul Hinks from Sky Sports TV was on hand as MC/Referee and the stage finals were televised on the day for transmission at a later date by TG4 Television. We wish to congratulate all of the players for their exemplary conduct and sportsmanship throughout all of the rounds and the finals.
Unfortunately, however, we still have a problem with a small minority of players who consider that the rules of entering the competitions do not apply to them. For the Men's Championship the closing date for receipt of completed entry forms and fees will be the Wednesday prior to each round and under no circumstances will telephone entries be accepted.
Entry forms will be available at each round for the next round of the Championship and they will also be available for downloading from this website.
Once again we ask all players to co-operate with the organisers and get their entries in as early as possible.
Round Two of the 2009 Championship will
be staged at the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel, Abbeyleix,
Co. Laois, on Saturday, November 22nd.,
2008, at 12 noon sharp. Check-in between 10.30 and 11.30am.
The closing date for receipt of entries
is Wednesday, November 19th.

O'Sullivan, 29 Mervue Crescent, Ballyvolane, Cork.
