Rules:

1. The Championship shall be called the 2008 Ireland Players Championship.

2. The Championship shall be confined to Irish darts players normally resident on the island of Ireland and players must be 16 years of age or more on August 1st.,2008.

3. The Championship shall be organised by independent organisers or organisations and shall be organised when and where possible in conjunction with existing tournaments. It is not intended to compete with or to clash with any other tournament or organisation.

4. The Championship shall consist of seven competitions and a Grand Final and it is expected to have a total minimum Prize Fund of € 16,000, depending on entries and sponsorship.

5. A Rankings system shall operate for the seven rounds of the Championship and the top 32 players on the Rankings List shall be invited to compete in the Grand Finals. Cash prizes shall be allocated to the top two players on the Rankings List after the seventh round and there shall also be a cash prize for the Highest Check-out in the Championship overall.

6. The organisers shall reserve the right to refuse or to cancel any entry up to and including the Grand Final of the Championship.The organisers’ decision shall be final in all matters relating to this Championship.

7. A closing date shall be set for each round of the Championship and completed entry forms and fees must be sent to the organiser of that round in advance of that date. Telephone entries will not be accepted. There will be a check-in time and a starting time at each venue and these will be strictly adhered to. Draw sheets shall be displayed on each of the competition boards prior to the commencement of each round. Any player not present when called to play shall be eliminated from the competition.

8. The entry fee for each round of the Championship shall be € 25-00 per player and there shall be a prize fund of € 1,500-00 at each venue depending on the number of players entered. The prize fund may be adjusted if more or less than 64 players enter at each venue. There shall be cash prizes for the last eight players.

The € 1,500-00 prize fund shall be divided as follows:-

Winner - € 700-00 ; Runner-up - € 300-00; Semi-finalists - € 150-00 each; Quarter-finalists - € 50-00 each.

9. There shall be a Raffle at each venue and a minimum sponsorship of € 300-00 from each venue. The total amount raised shall go forward to the prize fund at the Grand Finals. It is estimated that this should raise a minimum of € 3,000-00 in prize money. There shall be an entry fee of € 25-00 from each of the 32 qualifiers and this in addition to the sponsorship received from the venue and a raffle at the Grand Finals should raise the Prize Fund to a minimum of € 4,000-00. There shall be cash prizes for the last 16 players in the Grand Finals.

The Number One ranked player on the Rankings List shall receive € 200-00 and the Number Two ranked player shall receive € 100-00 and there shall be a cash prize of € 150-00 for the Highest Check-out throughout the Championship. It is estimated that the Prize Fund at the Grand Finals shall be at least the following:-

Champion - € 1,200-00; Runner-up - € 600-00; Semi-finalists - € 300-00 each; Quarter-finalists - € 150-00 each; 9th. to 16th. - € 75-00 each. These amounts shall increase if a major sponsor is procured for the Championship.

10. Rankings System:

Rankings points shall be awarded to the last 64 players in each of the seven rounds of the Championship provided that they have played at least one match in that round. A walk-over or bye shall not be regarded as a match played. Rankings points shall be awarded as follows:-

Winner - 12pts. ; Runner-up - 10pts. ; Semi-finalists - 8pts. ; Quarter-finalists - 6pts. ; 9th. to 16th. - 4pts.;

17th. to 32nd. - 2pts.; 33rd. to 64th., - 1pt.

The top 32 players on the Rankings List shall be invited to compete in the Grand Finals provided that they have competed in at least three of the seven rounds, irrespective of their placing on the List.

In the event of a tie for places in the Grand Finals the following guidelines shall apply in order :-

(a) The player with points achieved in most rounds shall be placed in a higher position.

(b) The player with most points achieved in any one round shall be placed in a higher position.

(c) If players are still level play-offs shall be organised.

There shall be a closing date for acceptance of invitations for the Grand Finals and any player not accepting this invitation by that date shall be replaced by the next-ranked player on the list.

11. Competition Rules:

Matches in the seven rounds of the Championship shall be the best of 9 Legs of 501 straight start, except the semi-finals and final which shall be the best of 11 Legs. A toss shall be made before each match with the winner of the toss to throw first in the odd-numbered legs and the loser of the toss to throw first in the even-numbered legs.

Players in the Grand Finals shall be divided into eight groups of four and each of these groups shall be organised on a ‘Round Robin’ basis with the top two players from each group advancing to the last sixteen.

In the event of a tie for places the following guidelines shall apply in order:

(a) The player with the most wins shall be placed in a higher position.

(b) The player with the most legs won shall be placed in a higher position.

(c) The player winning the match or matches between tied player(s) shall be placed in a higher position.

(d) If players are still level play-offs shall be arranged.

The top eight players on the Rankings List shall be seeded into the eight groups.

Matches in the Grand Finals shall be the best of 9 Legs of 501 straight start except the semi-finals and final which shall be the best of 11 Legs.

The Championship shall be a ‘Losers Mark’ event and any player who refuses to mark or who does not arrange to have a marker present at the next match shall not be allowed into any further rounds of the Championship.

There shall be a Code of Conduct throughout the Championship and any player or spectator not adhering to this code shall be severely dealt with by the Organisers.

A Dress Code shall be implemented at the Grand Finals of the Championship which shall be outlined to all qualifiers on their invitations.

Ireland Youths’ Championship

Rules:

1. The Championship shall be called the 2008 Ireland Youths’ Championship.

2. The Championship shall be confined to Irish darts players normally resident on the island of Ireland and players must under 18 years of age on August 1st., 2008. Players competing in the 2008 Ireland Players’ Championship may not compete in the 2008 Ireland Youths’ Championship. Proof of age will be required.

3. The Championship shall be organised in conjunction with the 2008 Ireland Players’ Championship.

4. The Championship shall consist of seven competitions and a Grand Final.

5. A Rankings system shall operate for the seven rounds of the Championship and the top 8 players on the Rankings List shall be invited to compete in the Grand Finals. Points shall be allocated as per 2008 Ireland Players’ Championship.

6. The organisers shall reserve the right to refuse or to cancel any entry up to and including the Grand Final of the Championship. Any player found guilty of consuming alcohol at or in the vicinity of the competition venue shall be eliminated from that round of the Championship and shall not be allowed to compete in any further round. The organisers’ decision shall be final in all matters relating to this Championship.

7. Entries for each round of the Championship shall be accepted at the competition venue up to 1.00pm on the day. Telephone entries will not be accepted. Draw sheets shall be displayed on each of the competition boards prior to the commencement of each round. Any player not present when called to play shall be eliminated from the competition.

8. The entry fee for each round of the Championship shall be € 5-00 per player and prize money shall be paid out on a Money-in / Money-out basis.

9. There shall be a Prize Fund of € 500 at the Grand Finals which shall be paid out as follows:-

Champion - € 200-00; Runner-up - € 100-00; S/finalists - € 50-00 each; Q/finalists - € 25-00 each.

10. Rankings System: (Same as Ireland Players’ Championship)

The top 8 players on the Rankings List shall be invited to compete in the Grand Finals provided that they have competed in at least three of the seven rounds, irrespective of their placing on the List.

The Championship shall be a ‘Losers Mark’ event and any player who refuses to mark or who does not arrange to have a marker present at the next match shall not be allowed into any further rounds of the Championship.

There shall be a Code of Conduct throughout the Championship and any player or spectator not adhering to this code shall be severely dealt with by the Organisers.

A Dress Code shall be implemented at the Grand Finals of the Championship which shall be outlined to all qualifiers on their invitations.
