Chrissie´s on the Double
Chrissie´s Bar (Clonmel) upset all of the odds when they finished the season in great style with wins in the Dundrum Cup and Tipperary League.

Dundrum House Hotel was the venue on March 9th., 2003, for the Dundrum Cup competition and with seventeen teams competing the standard of play was at an all-time high.    Chrissie´s were very impressive as they battled their way into the final and a match against Mul D´s from Thurles.    They lost the first two games to the Thurles team but they fought back to take the next four and the title on a 4-2 scoreline.
Tommy Whelan, Ger Fitzgerald, P.J. Daniels and John McGuire were Chrissie´s winners.

The Tipperary League final was played at the Clonmel Arms Hotel on April 4th. and
Con O´Rinn´s from Doon were Chrissie´s opponents on this occasion.  This match consisted of three doubles and six singles games and the Doon lads were quickly into their stride winning the first two doubles.      Chrissie´s hit back to take the third doubles game and the first two singles which included a 143 check-out from Sam Chai.    It was a see-saw battle from here on with Con O´Rinn´s levelling at 3-3 before Ger Fitzgerald
hit a purple patch at number four to put Chrissie´s in front again.     It was nail-biting stuff as the Doon team pulled themselves level at 4-4 before Derek Burke steadied his nerve to win the final game and the League title for Chrissie´s.     To crown a great season Sam Chai was voted Player of the Season in Tipperary.

Congratulations also to the Forge Bar (Emily) who defeated the Shamrock Lounge (Cahir)
in the final of the Tipperary Cup.
