Reville has Big Win in Wee County 

Martin Reville (Photo right) from Kildare won the Men’s Open Singles at the Tommy Dunn Memorial Tournament at the Fairways Hotel in Dundalk.   He defeated INDO-Ranked No. 4, Owen Caffrey (Louth) 6-3 in the final.

The beaten semi-finalists were Jack McKenna (Kildare) and Mick McGowan (Louth) in the final.

Joan Flynn (Meath) defeated Tina Caffrey (Louth) in the final of the ladies’ competition while Jason Johnson (Louth) had a win against Eugene McArdle (Dublin) in the youths’ final.

Winner - Jason Johnson (Louth) Runner-up - Eugene McArdle (Dublin) 

 

Tommy Dunne Memorial Tournament 2004

At the Fairways Hotel, Dundalk.

 

More than one hundred players competed in this annual competition which had a prize fund of €2,200.

 

The final of the Men´s Singles was a ´local derby´ between two Louth International players, Stephen McDonnell and Owen Caffrey, and it was a fascinating contest with McDonnell winning the top prize of €800.

The beaten semi-finalists were Aodhgan O´Neill (Cavan) and Jack McKenna (Kildare).

Maureen Kelly from Carlow won the Ladies´ Singles while young Jamie Bailie from the North won the Youth competition.

Men´s Singles:

Winner - Stephen McDonnell (Louth)     Runner-up - Owen Caffrey (Louth)

S/finalists - Jack McKenna (Kildare) and Aodhgan O´Neill (Cavan).

Q/finalists - James Keogh (Louth), Dwane Kennedy (Wicklow), Gary Bell (N.Ireland) and Neil Dillon (N.Ireland).

 

Ladies´ Singles:

9-Darter for Mick McGowan

 

Mick McGowan from Louth joined the elite band of Irish players who have recorded a 9-dart check-out when he achieved the fet at an Open Singles competition in Shirley's Bar, Kells, Co. Kilkenny on October 19th.   Playing against John Burke in the quarter-finals of the competition, McGowan had scores of 177, 180 and 144 (60,60 and double 12).  Mick McGowan won his quarter-final match but he went out in the semi-finals to the eventual winner, Denis McCarthy (Kilkenny)
