Wexford youth player, Jason Cullen,
caused a major upset when he defeated Owen Caffrey (Louth) in the final of the
Men´s Singles at the Limerisk Classic.
The beaten semi-finalists were David
Murphy (Limerick) and Steve McDonnell (Louth).
Cork´s Nicola O´Donovan, who was
runner-up in the Ladies´ Singles at this event in 2003, went
one step further this year and took the title with a win over
Joan Flynn (Meath).

South Court Hotel
Inter-Counties Challenge
on Sunday, November
21st., 2004.
Seven men´s teams competed in the
annual inter-counties at the South Court Hotel and they
competed in two groups on a round robin basis.
Galway finished on top of Group (A) and they defeated Clare (runners-up
in Group B) by seven games to two in the semi-finals.
Kilkenny defeated Sligo 7-4 in
the other semi and they went on to win the tournament with a 7-2
victory over Galway in the final.
Only four teams competed in the
ladies´ event which was played as a straight round robin contest
with each team playing three matches.
Clare won the competition with a 4-2 win against Limerick, 5-1
against Roscommon and a 3-3 draw with Galway to top the table on
12 points.
Limerick and Galway finished joint
second with 10 points each.

Punch´s
Bar have won the Limerick City Ladies´ League for the third time
in four years.
Winners
in 2001 and 2002 Punch´s were going for a hat-trick last year
but they had to settle for
runners-up position behind the Imperial Bar.
Both of these teams were the main contenders again this season
but Punch´s gained revenge over their close rivals and took
their third title by a mere two points.
