O´Neill Wins George Byrne Open.

128 players competed in the inaugural George Byrne Memorial Singles which

was held on December 3rd., 2004.

 

After some brilliant matches throughout the afternoon the Republic of Ireland

Number 2, Aodhagan O´Neill from Cavan, emerged victorious when he defeated

Fran Pacchelli (Kildare) in the final.

 

The Patriot´s Inn were well represented at the prize-giving with Joe Byrne reaching

the semi-finals and Gareth Gray and Martin Clarke going out in the quarter-finals.

They also captured the prize for the highest check-out with Don Healy recording

a 158 finish.

 

George Byrne´s son, Alan, organised the event and he hopes to make it even

bigger next year.

League and Cup Double Again for Patriot´s Inn

The Patriot´s Inn, Kilmainham, won the 2004 League and Cup Double in the National Vintners League in impressive style for the second successive season.

 

They won all of their twenty matches played in the League and out of 160 games played they won 143 and only lost 17.  And they completed the Double with a 5-0 win over the Submarine in the semi-finals and a 5-1 over the Renegades in the final of the Cup.

 

Eugene McArdle brought more honours to the club with victory in the League´s Singles while another of their players, Gareth Gray, was voted Player of the Year after an unbeaten run all season.

Double Victory for the Patriots Inn

The Patriot´s Inn (Kilmainham) were the top team in the National Vintners Darts League during the 2002/2003 season when they won the Monday Premier League title and the League Cup.
