A Great Weekend for Clare

 

Clare players travelled in big numbers to O´Shea´s Hotel, Tramore, Co. Waterford, on the weekend of December 6th./7th., 2003, and they produced some excellent performances in both the Waterford Open and the Munster Inter-Counties Challenge.

 

In the Men´s Open Singles at the Waterford Open Pat ´Butcher´ McCarthy reached the semi-finals where he was defeated by Jack McKenna (Kildare) while Declan Cushen lost out in the quarter- finals.    Noelle McCarthy reached the quarter-finals of the Ladies´ Open Singles.

 

In the Munster Inter-Counties on the Sunday the Men´s ´A´ team finished in a creditable third position behind Cork and Limerick while they finished second to Limerick in the ´B´ event after recording 6-2 victories over Waterford and Cork.

 

The ladies´ played their part with 4-2 wins over Kerry and Limerick to finish in third place in their group.
