Sympathy is extended to
Northern Ireland International player, John Magowan,
and his family on the death of his wife, Maggie,
last week.
Maggie was ever-present at John's side for many
years at darts events around the country and she
also travelled with him on his many trips abroad.

O'Connor- Qualified for UK Open
Congratulations to the three Irish
players, Brendan Dolan, Mick McGowan and William O'Connor, who have
qualified for the UK Open Finals at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton, on
June 3rd. to 6th. Brendan finished in the Top 32 of the
Order of Merit and he will come into the competition in the third
round while Mick has drawn Wayne Mardle in Round Two.
After only a few short weeks in the PDC
ranks William has already stated to make a name for himself and he
will play against Stuart Monaghan in the 1st. Round.
We will be watching their progress on Sky Sports TV.

The Maytime Darts Festival at the
Silver Springs Moran Hotel in Cork will commence on
Saturday,
May 22nd. at 2.00pm with the
Irish Women's Matchplay Championship which is a qualifying
competition for the 2010 PDC
Unicorn Women's World Championship.
Two Irish players will qualify on
the day to compete next month in the last 32 in the world
event which will have a prize fund of Stg. £ 30,000 and a
top prize of Stg. £ 10,000 for the winner.
Many of Ireland's top players,
including Denise Cassidy {Fermanagh}, Sharon O'Brien and
Susan McKenna from Kildare, Teresa Maher {Laois}, Maureen
Kelly {Carlow} and local players, Kay O'Carroll and Aisling
Feiriteur, have already entered the Silver Springs qualifier
and, hopefully, Ireland will be represented in the final of
the World Championship which will be televised live from
Blackpool before the final of the World Matchplay at the
Winter Gardens next July.
The closing date for receipt of
entries for the Women's Matchplay is May 19th.
The Maytime Festival will continue on the Saturday evening
at 8.00pm with separate Men's and Ladies' Doubles
competitions and entries for these events will be accepted
at the Conference Centre from 7.30pm on the night.
The Festival will conclude on
Sunday, May 23rd., with Men's, Ladies' and Youths' Under-18
Singles
events starting at 12 noon.
Entries for the Men's Singles will close on Wednesday, May
19th., while entries for the Ladies' and Youths' Singles
will be accepted at the venue.

The PDC are organising two new World Championships for
Women and Under-21 players and Ireland will be represented
by two players in each of these events.
Qualifying competitions will be organised shortly and the two Irish
women will be invited across to England to compete in
the last 32 of the PDC Women's World
Championship with the final being
televised live on Sky Sports at the World Matchplay in Blackpool on July 25th.
The winner of the Women's World
Championship will receive £ 10,000 with a total prize fund of £ 30,000 on offer.
Ireland will also have two representatives in the Under-21 World
Championship and they will be invited to compete in
the last 64 of this event with the final live at Alexandra Palace on January 3rd., 2011.
The winner of the Under-21 Championship
will also receive £ 10,000 with a total prize fund of £ 30,000 also on offer in
this event.

The last two players in the 2010 Tom Kirby Irish Matchplay
Championship will play-off on stage at the City West Hotel
in Dublin before the final of the Sky Bet World Grand Prix on Sunday, October
10th., with the winner to qualify for the Ladbrokes.com World Championship at
Alexandra Palace in London next December.
