Rooney to the Fore !
Keith Rooney and Willie O'Connor
 
 
147 men entered for Round Two of the 2010 Ireland Players' Championship at the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel on December 13th. and victory went to Keith Rooney who took the first prize of € 1,200 when he defeated Willie O'Connor 6-2 in the final.

 

In the semi-finals Keith defeated Shane O'Connor while Willie defeated Aodhagan O'Neill.
Shane O'Connor came close to collecting the Jackpot Prize of € 1,400 for a 9-dart check-out after hitting seven maximum scores of 180 he missed treble 19 with his eight dart.
The Jackpot will be increased to € 1,500 at the next round in Tramore on January 16th.
 
Home Win for Theresa
Theresa Maher and Sharon O'Brien
 
 
Theresa Maher from Laois won the Ladies' competition with a 4-2 victory over Sharon O'Brien {Kildare}. The beaten semi-finalists were Maureen Kelly and Ashling Feiriteur.
 

In the Youths' competition victory went to Paddy Meaney with a win over Ryan Maher and the beaten semi-finalists were Paul Donovan and Anthony McMahon.

 

 

Irish Matchplay Champion Heads for Ally Pally

The best of luck is extended to the Tom Kirby Memorial Irish Matchplay Champion, Aodhagan O'Neill
from Cavan, who will be heading across to London this coming weekend to compete in the Ladbrokes.com
World Championship at Alexandra Palace.

 

The Championship will kick-off on Friday night, December 18th. and Aodhagan will be in action in a
preliminary round at 8.15pm on Saturday night against the South African qualifier Les Francis.

 

If he wins this match he will be back on stage again on the same night against Adrian Lewis.
Brendan Dolan from Fermanagh has also qualified for the World Championship through the Order of merit
and he will take on Tony Eccles on Sunday afternoon at 1.10pm.
