Tramore Autumn Festival

The 22nd. Tramore Autumn Darts Festival takes place at O'Shea's Hotel in Tramore on the weekend of September 25th./ 26th./ 27th.

 

The Festival commences on the Friday night with separate Doubles competitions for Men and Ladies and it will continue on Saturday afternoon with the very popular Mixed Pairs Championship at 2.00pm.    There will also be an Under-21 Singles competition on the Saturday at 4.00pm.

 

The Festival will conclude on Sunday with Men's and Ladies' Singles at 12 noon.  -   Please note that entries for the Sunday Singles must be in before 7.00pm on Saturday.

 

 

Colin Lloyd Leads the PDPA Attack on Killarney

 

 Colin Lloyd is the first of the PDPA professionals to enter for the Gleneagle Irish Masters at the Killarney Darts Festival which takes place at the Gleneagle Hotel and INEC in Killarney, Co. Kerry, on the weekend of October 16th. to 18th.    Colin won the US Players' Championship in Atlanta last week and has hit top form at the right time before his trip to Ireland in October to compete at the City West and Killarney.

Please note that there is a change of date for the Pete McMahon Memorial Singles in Galway.   It will now take place on Sunday, October 25th., at the Menlo Park Hotel on the Headford Road.   Contact Pat Brennan at 087-2489231 for full details.

 

 

Best of Luck to the Irish Players in Bridlington

 

More than fifty Irish players from all parts of the country will be travelling across to Bridlington in England this coming weekend to compete in the Winmau World Masters Championships and in the qualifying rounds of the Lakeside World Championships.

Aodhagan Heading for the Palace

Aodhagan O'Neill

 

Aodhagan O'Neill from Cavan won the Tom Kirby Memorial Irish Matchplay Championship at the Green Isle Hotel in Dublin and he will now represent Ireland in the Ladbrokes.com World Championship at Alexandra Palace in London next December.

 

149 players from all corners of the country competed in the Matchplay event and O'Neill captured the title with an impressive 7-3 win over Willie O'Connor in the final.     The beaten semi-finalists were Benny Grace and Sean McArdle.

Willie O'Connor Wins in Rockchapel

Limerick's Willie O'Connor had another big win when he defeated Ian Dobson 7-4 in the final of the John O'Loughlin Memorial Singles in Rockchapel, Cork.      In the semi-finals Willie defeated Brendan Dolan while Ian defeated Aodhagan O'Neill.

Third Time Lucky for John Elder

 

 

Northern Ireland International John Elder from Antrim won the 2009 Ireland Players' Championship when he defeated Peter Quinn from Cork 6 - 4 in the final at the Springhill Court in Kilkenny.

 

Seamus O'Carroll {Springhill Court Hotel}, Nuno Monteiro {Springhill Court Hotel}, John Elder and Joe Coyne.

 

 

Having lost out in the finals of 2006 and 2007 Elder achieved his goal in this year's Championship with some very impressive performances throughout the afternoon.

 

In the semi-finals he defeated Garrett Gray from Dublin 6-4 while Quinn had a similar victory over Cavan's Aodhagan O'Neill.   Peter Quinn recorded the Highest Check-out of 170 in the tournament.

 

Denise Cassidy from Fermanagh made it a Northern Double when she defeated Caroline Breen from Galway 4-1 in the Ladies' final.

 

 

Seamus O'Carroll, Nuno Monteiro, Denise Cassidy and Joe Coyne.

 

In the semi-finals Caroline eliminated last year's winner, Sharon O'Brien {Kildare}, on a 3 - 2 scoreline while Denise had a 3 - 0 win over Maureen Kelly {Carlow}.

 

 

Youths' Double for Roscommon

 

For the second year in succession Roscommon recorded a double win in the Youths' events at the Ireland Players' Championships in Kilkenny.

 

Mark Finneran (right) defeated the tournament Paddy Meaney {Kilkenny} to claim the Youths' Championship crown while Thomas Concannon  below retained the Youths' Plate with a 3-0 win over Dylan Rutledge {Dublin}.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The beaten semi-finalists in the Championship were Martin Heneghan and Jason Hahessy while in the Plate Cathal Murphy and Paul Donovan lost out in the last four.

 

 

 

 

 

Martin Murphy Triumphs in Wicklow

On his way home from the Players' Championship in Kilkenny Martin Murphy dropped into the Rathdrum Sports Complex in Wicklow and took the first prize in the Open Singles on Sunday, August 1st.    He defeated Martin O'Connor 5-0 in the final.
