Stephen is Champion

Anne O’Sullivan presenting the Tom O’Sullivan Memorial Shield to Stephen O’Leary (Tory Top).

 

Stephen O’Leary (Tory Top) won the 24th. Annual Tom O’Sullivan Memorial Singles Tournament at the Deanrock Darts Arena in Togher on Monday, December 12th.

 

Eighty three players entered the Men’s Singles and Stephen was a worthy winner on the night with some top-class performances.

 

En route to the final he eliminated the reigning champion, Terry Barrett, in the quarter-finals and captured the title with an exciting 4 – 3 victory over Gary Condron (Abbey Tavern) in the final.

 

The beaten semi-finalists were Anthony Murphy and Noel McCarthy and Noel also hit the highest check-out of 156 0n the night.  

 

 

Kay O’Carroll and Anne O’Sullivan

 

A separate Ladies’ Singles was also held at the venue with Kay O’Carroll retaining the title with a 3 – 0 victory over Michelle Gould in the final.

First Win for Friars Walk

The Friars Walk Tavern had their first victory in CDPA competitions when they defeated a gallant Rock Bar (2) in the final of Division (3) of the K-Cabs Team Fours Championship at Redmond’s GAA Club on Monday, December 5th.

 

It was also a great night for the runners-up who were competing in their first season and they won their place in the final with a 4 – 2 victory over the Manhattan Bar in the last four.    It was Friars Walk’s night, however, as they defeated the Deanrock (1) 4 – 0 in the semi-finals and had a similar win over the Rock in the final.

 

To round off a great night for the Friars Walk their number one player, Albert Porter, hit the highest check-out of the night when he finished from 138 in the final throw in the decider.

 

Ovens Bar Win Division (2)

On the same night the Ovens Bar had two 4 – 2 victories against the Tory Top (2) and the Ferry Arms to capture the Division (2) K-Cabs title.

 

The other beaten semi-finalists were Kirby’s Korner (1) who went down 4 – 0 to to Ferry.

 

Abbey Defeat League Champions

 

Abbey Tavern

 

In Division (1) of the K-Cabs Team Fours the Abbey Tavern defeated Quirkie’s 4 – 0 in the semis and went on to defeat the current league champions, Evergreen Bar,  4 – 0 in the final.

 

The Evergreen had a hard-fought 4 – 2 win over the Huntsman in the other semi-final.
