`Have Darts - Will Travel`
In 1993 a group of darts players from
different teams in Cork formed their own `society` to organise trips to open competitions
around the country.
Two years later they expanded their
horizons and crossed the Irish Sea to compete in the Welsh Open in Prestatyn and they then
travelled to Gloucester to compete in competitions in the Three Oaks Bar.
Belgium was the destination in 1997
where they were quests of the Double Top Darts Club in the Cafe Bristol in Ghent.
They competed in the Ghent Open and
played a number of challenge matches in the local clubs against Belgian and Dutch
opposition.
Their most recent excursion was in
October 2002 when they travelled to Europe once more, this time to Amsterdam in the
Netherlands.
